Renovation Townhall Flims

In 1947 the municipality of Flims bought the patrician house, popularly known as "little castle", in the village center and commissioned the architect Rudolf Olgiati with the reconstruction. The historic building was built in 1682 by the district judge Johann Gaudenz von Capol. The particularly valuable wall paneling of the hall had been sold to a large extent to the Metropolitan Museum in New York in 1819. On the south side, a park-like walled garden adjoins the building. A striking feature of the building is the tower with the onion-like roof. The floor plan of the building is divided into three consistent layers. In the middle there is the generous corridor with staircase. The individual rooms are arranged to the side of this central section. The large hall was renovated during the reconstruction by Rudolf Olgiati. In addition, work rooms were set up for the municipality and the attic was converted. In the converted attic are accomodated two small apartments.
Die Gemeinde Flims kaufte im Jahr 1947 das im Volksmund als "Schlössli" bekannte Patrizierhaus im Dorfzentrum und beauftragte den Architekten Rudolf Olgiati mit dem Umbau. Das Gebäude war 1682 vom Landrichter Johann Gaudenz von Capol erbaut worden. Das besonders wertvolle Täfer des Saals war 1819 zu einem grossen Anteil an das Metropolitan Museum in New York verkauft worden. Auf der Südseite schliesst eine parkartige, von einer Mauer eingefasste Gartenanlage an das Gebäude an. Ein markantes Merkmal des Gebäudes ist der Turm mit zwiebelartigem Dach. Der Grundriss des Gebäudes ist in drei konsequente Schichten gegliedert. Dabei liegt in der Mitte die grosszügige Erschliessung mit Treppenaufgang. Seitlich davon sind die einzelnen Räume angeordnet. Beim Umbau durch Rudolf Olgiati wurde der grosse Saal renoviert. Zudem wurden Arbeitsräume für die Gemeinde eingerichtet und der Dachstock ausgebaut. Im ausgebauten Dachstock konnten zwei Kleinwohnungen untergebracht werden.
