The Yeni Cami, also known as the New Mosque, was designed by Mimar Davud Ağa. With this building, which was built in the years 1597 - 1663, a fire ruin was replaced at that time. That is why it became known as the New Mosque. This mosque is located in Istanbul's Eminönu district, not far from Spice Bazaar. Due to its location near the shore, at the southeastern end of the Golden Horn, the Yeni Cami characterizes the cityscape of Istanbul.
The construction began under Safiye Sultan, the wife of Sultan Murat III. She had also laid the foundation for the construction of the mosque. Only in 1663, 70 years later, could the mosque be completed with much effort. Architects Mimar Dalgıç Ahmed Ağa and then Mustafa Ağa followed the original architect Mimar Davut Ağa.

Die Yeni Cami, auch bekannt als die Neue Mosche, entstand nach einem Entwurf von Mimar Davud Ağa. Mit diesem Gebäude, das in den Jahren 1597 - 1663 entstand, wurde seinerzeit eine Brandruine ersetzt. Dshalb wurde es als Neue Mosche bekannt. Diese Moschee befindet sich im Istanbuler Stadtteil Eminönu unweit des Gewürzbasars. Aufgrund der Lage nahe dem Ufer, am südöstlichen Ende des Goldenen Horns, ist die Yeni Cami prägend für das Stadtbild von Istanbul.
Begonnen wurde der Bau unter Safiye Sultan, der Frau von Sultan Murat III. Sie hatte auch den Grundstein für den Bau der Moschee gelegt. Erst im Jahr 1663, also 70 Jahre später, konnte die Moschee mit viel Mühe fertiggestellt werden. Als Architekten folgten Mimar Dalgıç Ahmed Ağa und schließlich Mustafa Ağa auf den ursprünglichen Architekten Mimar Davut Ağa.
