Thulehuset

Built in 1937, Thulehuset in Gothenburg is a commercial building designed by Nils Einar Eriksson for the Lifförsäkrings AB Thule. The five-storey building is located on the corner of Norra Hamngatan 18 and Östra Hamngatan 30-34 in the district of Nordstaden. With this strictly functionalist building, the old "Wilson Palace" was created. An initial construction phase of the building was ready for occupation on October 1, 1936. Even in the autumn of the same year, the second construction phase in the direction of Köpmansgatan began. A characteristic feature of the Thulehuset is the big clock in the building corner. Above the main entrance is a sandstone relief by Ivar Johnsson. In 1946, the copper roof was created, and an apartment in the attic furnished. This apartment was later rebuilt into office space. In the 1950s, various minor adjustments were made to the shopping arcade on the ground floor.
Das 1937 erbaute Thulehuset in Göteborg ist ein von Nils Einar Eriksson entworfenes Geschäftsgebäude für die Lifförsäkrings AB Thule. Das fünfstockige Bauwerk befindet sich an der Ecke von Norra Hamngatan 18 und Östra Hamngatan 30-34 im Stadtteil Nordstaden. Mit diesem streng funktionalistischen Gebäude wurde der alte "Wilson Palace" erstellt. Eine erste Bauetappe des Gebäudes war bereits am 1. Oktober 1936 bezugsbereit. Noch im Hebst des selben Jahres wurde mit der zweiten Bauetappe in Richtung Köpmansgatan begonnen. Ein charakteristisches Merkmal des Thulehuset ist die grosse Uhr in der Gebäudeecke. Über dem Haupteingang befindet sich ein Sandsteinrelief von Ivar Johnsson. Im Jahr 1946 wurde das Kupferdach erstellt, und eine Wohnung im Dachgeschoss eingerichtet. Diese Wohnung wurde später wiederum in Büroräume umgebaut. In den 1950er Jahren wurden verschiedene kleinere Anüassungen an der Ladenpassage im Erdgeschoss vorgenommen.
