Diener & Diener - Switzerland Row Houses Isteinerstrasse 90-96a, Basel 1997 - 2003 |
The
row houses Isteinerstrasse, designed by Diener & Diener architects,
are located in the courtyard of a mainly six-storey perimeter block
development.
The addition of housing units results in an elongated horizontal volume of three stories. The top floor is recessed on both sides and forms an attica. The longitudinal facades are characterized by large windows with dark casements. The solar protection is made by textile awnings. Unfortunately, some of the housing units were executend divergent, so that a part of the exposed concrete facade was plastered and painted white. This intervention is a sensitive disturbance of the design concept. |
