Apartment Building Schönau
Schönaustrasse 33, Basel
1996 - 2002
Diener & Diener architects errected an apartment building at the Schönaustrasse in the years 1996 - 2002.
The building is part of a perimeter block development and is integrated unobtrusively into the street front.
By using two different colours, the façade length of the six-storey building is visually reduced.
The plastered façade is dominated by the steady repetition of uniform windows of nearly square form.
The uniform windows are equipped with swinging casements.
Only a short time after the apartment building Diener & Diener could realize the Dorint Hotel in the immediate vicinity on the opposite side of the road.
