Sverre Fehn & Geir Grung - Norway Økern Aldersjem Økernveien 151, Oslo 1952 - 1955 |
The Økern Aldersjem is an early work by the Norwegian architects Sverre Fehn and Geir Grung.
This large single storey building is marked by a strictly horizontal emphasis, and appears to float above ground. The elevations are dominated by the horizontal lines of the parapet and the roof edging. The design of this home for the elderly, structured by two large patios, is mainly influenced by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. |
