Carlo Scarpa - Italy Monumento Alla Partigiana Venice 1955	The Monument of the Partisan consists of a sculpture by Augusto Murer and a base designed by Carlo Scarpa. Located along the Riva dei Partigiani, in front of the entrance to the Venice Biennale, the Monument commemorates the partisan movement in Venice, in particular all women who committed themselves and fought to free the city from fascism. The bronze statue shows a woman lying on the ground, placed on a lower level than the observers at the shore. This solution results in a floating body, showing the statue almost resting on the water surface. Through an opening in the brick parapet, the passersby are invited to enter the area of the monument. Built in 1961 the Monument of the Partisans became very deteriorated by time and water erosion. In 2009, the centenary of the birth of Carlo Scarpa, the monument was restored to its original appearance. Das Monumento alla Partigiana besteht aus einer Skulptur von Augusto Murer und einem Sockel von Carlo Scarpa. Direkt an der Riva dei Partigiani, vor dem Eingang zur Biennale in Venedig, gelegen, erinnert das Denkmal an die Partisanenbewegung in Venedig, insbesondere an alle Frauen die sich dazu verpflichteten und für die Befreiung der Stadt vom Faschismus kämpften. Die Bronzestatue zeigt eine Frau die auf dem Boden liegt, plaziert auf einem niedrigeren Niveau als die Beobachter am Ufer. Diese Lösung führt zu einem schwebenden Körper, zeigt die Statue wie auf der Wasseroberfläche aufliegend. Durch eine Öffnung in der gemauerten Brüstung werden die Passanten eingeladen den Bereich des Denkmals zu betreten. Erbaut im Jahre 1961 verschlechterte sich der Zustand des Denkmals laufend durch Wassererosion, annähernd bis zum Zerfall. Im Jahr 2009, dem 100 jährigen Jubiläum von Carlo Scarpas Geburt, wurde das Denkmal restauriert und sein ursprüngliches Aussehen wieder hergestellt.
