Stirling Wilford Associates - UK Stuttgart Music School and Theatre Academy Urbanstrasse 25, Stuttgart 1987 - 1996	The State Academy of Music and Performing Arts is located in the immediate vicinity of the famous State Gallery in Stuttgart. The two designs by the English architectural firm Stirling Wilford Associates form an ensemble around the cultural mile of the city of Stuttgart. The state parliament is embedded in the ensemble. The two symmetrically arranged angular building wings refer to an urban development axis. The tower of the university is to be considered as the heartpiece of the composition and houses the central functions of the building. For example, a three-storey concert hall with 500 seats, the Senate Hall and the library. The roof terrace of the university refers to the rotunda of the State Gallery and is to be used for small open-air concerts. Die staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zur berühmten Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart. Die beiden Entwürfe des englischen Architekturbüros Stirling Wilford Associates bilden ein Ensemble rund um die Kulturmeile der Stadt Stuttgart. Dabei wird der Landtag in das Ensemble einbezogen. Die beiden symmetrisch angeordenten Winkelförmigen Gebäudeflügel beziehen sich auf eine städtebauliche Achse. Der Turm der Hochschule ist als Herzstück der Komposition zu betrachten und beherbergt die zentralen Funktionen des Gebudes. So zum Beispiel einen dreigeschossigen Konzertsaal mit 500 Sitzplätzen, den Senatssaal und die Bibliothek. Die Dachterrasse des Hochschulturms bezieht sich auf die Rotunde der Staatsgalerie und soll für kleine Freiluftkonzerte verwendet werden.
