Skyper High-Rise Building
Taunusanlage 1, Frankfurt 2002 - 2004
|
Among
the mirror glass skyscrapers of the Frankfurt skyline, the Skyper
high-rise buiding stands out because of its special shape. The play of
reflections and shadow effects on the curved surfaces of the building,
changing with the position of the sun, sets the building complex on the
former site of the Philipp Holzmann AG to their best advantage in
scene. The 39-storey skyscraper was built on a ground plan in the form
of a ring segment. Structurally it is a reinforced concrete
construction with glass curtain wall. The Skyper is still one of the
tallest buildings in Frankfurt am Main. Along the Taunusstrasse are
lined up three buildings, creating the so-called Skyper Carré. This
consists of a six-story building volume assuming the eaves height of
the neighbouring buildings, the 150 m tall skyscraper and finally the
listed neoclassical Villa Holzmann, which was built from 1913 to 1915
as the headquarters of the construction company by the architects
Oswald and Rückgauer.
